After WW2 the IIIC was accompanied by two simpler models the Leica IIc (1948 - 1951) without slow speeds and the Ic (1949 - 1952) with the same specifications but without coupled rangefinder. In fact the Ic is the successor of the Leica Standard. The commercial strategy of Leitz to offer cheaper models in impoverished and cash-strapped postwar Germany did not really succeed. The sales of the IIIc, IIc and Ic are in proportion 100: 11: 12.
