John-F8 days ago Thank you Leica Camera AG and M. Seymour for this very interesting video of the making of the Leica M10.
On a personal note, I was surprised (in a positive way) to discover that Leica is using an FPGA (https://en.wikipedia.org/wi... chip along with its own ASIC type chip (Leica MAESTRO II).
Have a look at 1:22 - there it is: the ARTIX-7 FPGA chip from Xilinx. This kind of chip has until now been reserved for very high-end medium format digital backs (Phase One comes to mind). See: https://www.xilinx.com/prod...
That the Leica M10 would use both an ASIC chip (Maestro) AND an advanced FPGA chip only confirms what many of us have been thinking for years - Leica means the very highest level of performance and technical advance. Period !
Can't wait to see what Leica has in store for its next SL2 …. ;-)
